6th Grade Technology Applications

Daily Warm Up:

• Students will type for the first 10 minutes of class EVERY day using the lessons on typing.com. These are to be done at school only.  If you would like your child to practice typing at home I would highly recommend nitrotype.com!

Tutorials:

• If you child needs additional help with anything we are doing in class I am here for tutorials after school on Tuesdays and Thursday until 3:45 PM.  I am willing to come in before school or stay any afternoon if these times don't work.  Please just have your child communicate that need with me!

Week 1:

• Monday: Rules, procedures, and review of the district AUP (acceptable use policy). 

• Tuesday: Rule and procedure review and Week 1 vocab introduction

• Wednesday: Vocabulary review and introduction to digital citizenship

• Thursday: Digital citizenship game

• Friday: Vocabulary quiz and viral videos

Week 2:

• Monday: Typing.com account set up and Quizlet set up 

• Tuesday: Week 2 vocab introduction, Google Class, and Google Apps

• Wednesday: Screencastify installation and how-to

• Thursday: Create Screencastify video (in class)

• Friday: Vocabulary quiz and typing test (Screencastify due)

Week 3:

• Monday: No School (Labor Day)

• Tuesday: Week 3 vocab introduction, Google Docs introduction (saving, templates, menues, and shortcuts)

• Wednesday: Google Docs Assignment: Favorite Product Letter (student address)

• Thursday: Google Docs Assignment: Favorite Product Letter (CEO name and address)

• Friday: Vocabulary quiz and typing test

Week 4:

• Monday: Week 4 vocab introduction, Google Docs Assignment: Favorite Product Letter Due (writing letter in class)

• Tuesday: Google Docs Assignment: All About Me  

• Wednesday: Google Docs Assignment: All About Me

• Thursday: Google Docs Assignment: All About Me 

• Friday: Vocabulary quiz and typing test (All About Me Due)

Week 5:

• Monday: Week 5 vocab introduction, Google Docs Assignment: I am Unique because... (learning how to share and collaborate on Google Docs)

• Tuesday: Google Docs Assignment: How-To Narrative

• Wednesday: Google Docs Assignment: How-To Narrative

• Thursday: Google Docs Assignment: How-To Narrative

• Friday: Vocabulary quiz and typing test (How-To Narrative Due)
